Das F.A.Q.:
Q: Dude, C3 in San Francisco sucked, why will C8 be better?
A: For starters - Convergence 8 will actually be *in* San Francisco - the official
hotel will located
in San Francisco proper - close to the venues, downtown, south of market
nightlife, shopping and dining. Not Oakland, which, while nice, is not SF.
Convergence 8 venues will be chosen both for their proximity to the hotel, but
also for quality, comfort and goth-friendliness.
Your Convergence 8 San Francisco committee brings a wealth of experience, both
at producing events and attending past Convergence's. Simply put, we understand
what makes a good Convergence, and we think we know how to deliver it. We are first and
foremost, professionals. Goth as hell, but professionals. Yeah, we're all freaks and wackos, but we dont mess around.
Most of us have been actively involved in our scene for over 10 years now, and we care passionately about our city, and
about our scene.
We want to be up front about it: We know we have a stigma to overcome. C3
was somewhat lacking in many ways. Its true. We know, we were there. We want to prove to you that San
Francisco can put on a Convergence you will truly enjoy. Your Convergence 8 San
Francisco committee members were not members of the Convergence 3 committee. We
are not romantically involved with one another (we like each other well enough,
but no funny business). We are not litigious by nature. We humbly...wait. no.
humble aint goth. We ask that you judge San Francisco and our proposal on their
own merits, and not by the actions of the Convergence 3 committee, 5 years ago
(besides, we're way more goth than they were....hee hee...we're gonna so slapped for this).
Q: Isn't San Francisco expensive?
A: All right, San Francisco aint cheap. But, its no more expensive than any other
world class city.
Airfare from most US cities should be available for around $300 (see the Travel
section for examples). For those coming from europe you can figure on about 500-600 pounds for round trip,
mind you, thats a VERY rough estimate.
We are seeking hotels that charge no more that $150 per
night for double occupancy As long time residents, we know the city. Food and
drink in San Francisco do not have to be pricey, as a matter of fact, the best food
is usually the cheapest hereabouts, there are also many gems and
bargains to be found, and we intend to tell you where to find them.
