Alt.Gothic members, and other netgoths and locals:
We recognize that Convergence is first and last and always (hey now, hey now na
now....sing this Convergence to me...but we digress..) a alt.gothic and
net.goth event. We understand the history of Convergence and are sensitive to
the concerns of alt.gothic'ers..
We are considering the following measures to make it easier for alt.gothic'ers
to meet with one another at Convergence 8:
- Distinctively color coded laminates for a.g'ers
- private a.g. lounges at the Meet and Greet and other events
Further, we invite the alt.gothic community to designate a representative to
serve as an advisor
and liaison to the committee on these and other measures to make Convergence 8
the best possible experience for members of the alt.gothic community.
At the same time, some of our best experiences at past Convergences have
involved meeting local goths and non-altgothic netgoths. We're not sending anyone
to the bad boys and girls room* just cause they're not on alt.gothic.
(* Unless they WANT to go there that is...)
While will not promote Convergence to non net.goths, neither do we wish to
exclude them:
- All advance promotion and ticket sales will be internet based.
- There will be no advertisements in local papers
- If available, we will offer tickets at the door of Convergence events to local
Goths. However, we ARE going to impose a dress code on locals without prepurchased
tickets or laminates, to prevent non-goth locals from gaining admittance.
Obviously, if you have a prepurchased ticket or laminate you will be
allowed entry, even in jeans and a teeshirt.
