Montréal has a wide variety of bars, lounges, taverns, pubs, cafés and dance clubs to fit every possible taste in music and ambience. The drinking age is 18 and last call isn't until 3AM, so come and join the party.

Le Balafré Pub Underground

A cozy place to hang out for a pint of cider or beer. This spot holds the monthly Déja Vu event ran by Uriel and another local DJ. Also, holds weekly punk/alternative nights on Fridays/Saturdays.

Foufounes Électriques

One of the oldest alternative clubs in North America, Foufounes Électriques has hosted such acts as Switchblade Symphony, KMFDM, Genitorturers, Sonic Youth and Alien Sex Fiend. Punks, goths, rivetheads and ravers can be found sharing a beer on one of the patios or watching a performance on the upstairs stage area.

On Sunday June 2 Convergence VII will take over the top floors of "Foufs" for The War In Heaven Masquerade Ball. Stake your claim on the dancefloor or relax in the more laid-back atmosphere of one of the terraces as Oldschool and Newschool DJs join in battle.

A tiny seedy venue in the Plateau Mont-Royal area. A good place for live shows, they tend towards punk and rockabilly.

A two-story alternative club in downtown Montréal. The place to be in summer for the rooftop terrace.

The Mad Hatters

Downtown. A dark raucous pub with featuring an eclectic mix of music, cheap drink and good portions of standard pub fare.

Montréal Beer Museum
2063 Stanley St (near Peel Metro below Sherbrooke St)
Downtown. Exactly what it says. A museum devoted to beer. It also boasts a restaurant where patrons can listen to live music or simply sample the wares in a casual atmosphere.

Bar Le Passeport

In the Plateau Mont-Royal. Open daily from Wednesdays to Sundays at 10:00pm. The only place in town that sells both beer and underwear. A truly unique establishment that spends its days as a clothing and accessories shop (Kamikaze Curiosités), and then transforms into a bar at night, it hosts an emb/synthpop/goth nights on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The Saphir
