The most striking feature of the city is the number of beautiful old churches and graveyards. Not for nothing is Montréal called The City of a Thousand Steeples. Some of the buildings listed here will be featured in the official Convergence tours.

Christ Church Cathedral
A neo-gothic cathedral built in the mid 1800's, Located in downtown Montréal, the Christ Church Cathedral is open to visitors who wish to view the stained class and statues inside the church.

Church of St Andrew and St Paul
A Presbyterian church built in 1932. The interior is constructed completely out of stone.

Mary Queen of the World Cathedral
Built as a scaled-down replica of St Peter's Basilica in Rome, the Cathedral was built in at the end of the 19th century in what was then an Anglo-Protestant neighbourhood of Montréal.

Notre-Dame Basilica
Definitely one of the most impressive building in a town known for it's beautiful churches. Built in the Old Montréal district in the early 1800's, the interior was lushly decorated in sculptured wood, paintings, stained glass and gold leaf. The Notre-Dame Basilica is one of the buildings that will be featured in one of the official Convergence tours.

Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel
400 rue Saint-Paul E
This is a 300 year-old chapel in Old Montréal which also houses the Marguerite Bourgeoys Museum.

St James United Church
Built in 1889, this church has a neo-Gothic exterior and a Victorian interior. During the summer free organ concerts are held every Tuesday afternoon.

St Joseph's Oratory
The largest church in Montréal, the Oratory on Mount Royal is visible to anyone who enters the city by car. The dome of the main building is 97 metres in height, and second in size only to St Peter's Basilica in Rome. St Joseph's Oratory will be featured in one of the official Convergence tours.

St Patrick's Basilica
Known as "The Irish Church", St Patrick's Basilica is a neo-Gothic building from the mid-1800's. Designated as a historical site by the Québec government, the Basilica is open to visitors daily.

Mount Royal Cemetery
The Mount Royal Cemetery is a wooded and terraced property that covers 165 acres of mountainside. Footpaths lead the visitor between lowering shrubs and gardens. The Mount Royal Cemetery is one of the sites that will be featured in one of the official Convergence tours.
