Shuttle Bus for eventsLike Convergence VI, we plan on having a set of buses cycling between the Hotel and Events on a regular rotation. We have tentatively settled on 2-3 buses that will carry about 24 people each. This number is based on the amount of folks we observed using the shuttles vs. other transportation options, such as taxis, in Seattle. These will operate from around 9pm 'til around 3am. Toward the latter part of the evening, this will taper off to one bus until around 4am. Shopping/Eating shuttleLittle 5 Points and Virginia Highlands are two key areas of Atlanta with Goth-relevant shopping and restaurants. Given this, we have decided on a regularly cycling bus (24 seats) traveling from the Hotel to the Little 5 Points and Virginia Highlands area and back. Towards 9pm or so this bus will include the evening's venue in its rotation, for easy changes of plans on the part of you, the visitor. Our plan is to make it easy to change your plans. MARTAMARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority - ) is the basic method of getting around Atlanta. It has two major arteries of rail travel and many buses that travel along major and minor roads in Atlanta. It is cheap ($1.50, $8.00 for weekend passes), if less convenient compared to hopping in the car. Most importantly... the Atlanta Airport lies on the North/South line from Downtown, making a quick, cheap and relatively effortless Marta trip from the airport to your hotel. CabsAtlanta's numerous taxi companies received a facelift due to the Olympics, including a fairly stringent set of regulations limiting certain fares and flat rates. Typical costs from the Airport to Downtown are $18 for a single person, $10 for 2 and $8 for three, with $24 being the max. There are flat rates for travel around down town at around $5. |
