Friday

Afternoon Meet and Greet

Nothing new here, it's the same as all the other Convergences. We gather, we give any late-comers their laminates, talk and socialize.

Joe and ODK@Masqurade

Cocktail Hour (18+)

Those of legal drinking age join us in the Hotel lounge and help us down a few. 18-21 year olds, you can come and chat, just don't pester the bartender with that fake ID please....

Club/Music/Dancing @ The Masquerade (all ages/18-under limited access)

Friday Night will see bands, dancing and socializing at The Masquerade. An early 20th century cotton mill, The Masquerade has three large rooms, on three separate levels of the building. Upstairs (Heaven) is geared for bands, with a stage in the front and a bar area in the back, the ground level (Purgatory) for relaxation and conversation (tables and couches around a bar on a raised dais), and the underground level (Hell), specifically for dancing (dance floor surrounded by raised entrance and walkways). All three levels have full bars, and there is an on-site kitchen for snacks and munchies.

We have a good working relationship with The Masquerade. Both of the consulting promoters, as well as one of the senior committee members, have worked with The Masquerade extensively in the past on several promotions and concerts.

Saturday

AGF Shopping Trip - optional event

You will be taken around the Little 5 Points area (Ann d'Abiose is your guide), one of our favorite and most treasured places for shopping in Atlanta. It is surrounded by the charms of Victorian bungalows, Craftsman cottages and century-old trees. L5P can offer just about anything an AGFer can dream of. After L5P, if you want more, we will hit the Virginia Highlands for some more shopping and, perhaps, a refreshment break at Planet Smoothie in between.

Goth Skate!

Skating - optional event (all ages), *extra cost*

Saturday afternoon will see DJ OMAC spinning music while folks roll, careen and twirl around a skating rink. OMAC, a long time mainstay DJ in Atlanta, has organized a number of smaller scene-based Goth Skating nights. Transport to the rink will be included in the ticket package. Prices are expected to be around $8-12. Skate availability will be on a first come, first serve basis (ticket orders).

Fetish/Formal/Georgian Ball (All ages/18-under limited access) - Venue TBD

Dress in your finest Romantic, Fetish, or Georgian garb, and dance the night away. Dancing space, as well as a lounge space, will be available in a large ballroom. We are also working with one of the long time Atlanta fetish promoters (the Secret Room) for a fetish show on the sideline.

We are debating the possibility of running the Art show during the evening ball. It would take place perhaps in the lobby to the Auditorium or perhaps in a side room. We have had such events during Club/Fetish Nights in Atlanta and they seem to work well. Discreet space would be allocated for better lighting and viewing of the art work. Ability to purchase the artwork would be available during the Sunday Vendors Room.

Sunday

Exploring Oakland Cemetery

Cemetery Walk - optional event (all ages) *extra cost*

Atlanta's history touches frequently on death. The Civil War visit of General Sherman and a severe plague figured most significantly. No better place is this evident than the city's hallowed, ornate cemeteries.

Oakland Cemetery has a well-organized preservation society that is aware of and friendly with the local Goth community. Greenwood and Lakewood cemeteries are quite lovely and interesting, as well. We are examining the possibility of a tour of all three. But we will opt for a trip package that will allow transport to these locations, as well as guided tours.

Club/Dancing at The Riviera (18+)

Sunday night at the Riviera will feature a dance floor surrounded by plush chairs and tables with the "mondo lounge" feel. A back room will allow escape from louder music to something more ethereal, and a bit of finger food. Next door is a pasta/pizza bar for those interested in late night food and snacks. As mentioned before, The Riviera has the "holiest of holies", a permit to serve 24/7. So you don't have to go home at 1am, unless you want to.

Other Stuff

Vendors Room - Saturday and Sunday (free of course)

This is another item that almost doesn't require mention. It is a long time mainstay of cons in general and Convergence in particular. More details will be forthcoming later on.

Discussion Panels - Saturday and Sunday (free)

Something that seems to happen at conventions is organized discussion panels. While we aren't wanting to organize a mass group of long lectures, we are certainly interested in providing a space for folks to sit down and discuss a certain topic with a number of individuals.

Thus if any group or individual wishes to organize a panel discussion on say... Corset Making (AGFers?). Then we'd be happy to help set up a time and space for such an event and assist with the macroscopic issues. You decide the topic, find a group of folks (we'll help if we can) that would wish to get together, and we'll let people know about it. The ideal thing here is that you can discuss things you've argued with to the nth degree on usenet, but this time you can bring visual aids.

Other Possible topics are a promoters conference and a discussion of the rise of comics by gothy authors.
