SCENE:

Downtown Dallas, east of the Pecos. The moon has been replaced by a baleful cow skull staring down upon an old west scene of carnage and madness. A marauding band of white rabbits have just eaten a man whole and there are cattle and swine loose in the street. Folks are hangin’ by their neck from every lamp post, women folk are hidin’ behind shuttered windows and the dead walk the earth in search of a light meal.

The nefarious gunslinger has just chewed off another round of bullets at the unsuspecting nay sayers in Dallas Town and now it's time to head on down to the Goth club for a round of whiskey for his friends and beer for his horses.

They make ‘em tall in Texas, so after walking four or five steps, the gunslinger had covered about six or seven miles. The old saloon rings with the sound of Goth, industrial and electronica until 4:00am every weekend in this Wild West town. Meanwhile, as the patrons exit with their capes and canes, big mama has some shit on a griddle ready for 'em down at the greasy spoon. Gimme a slice of that ol’ time diarrhea.

(Cue sounds of yeeee-hawing, cattle stampeding, and some East Texas whoop-ass)

WELCOME TO BIG D, HOW Y’ALL ARE?

Howdy, and welcome to Dallas Texas, the land of oil barons, Texas Hold Em’, corporate headquarters, pyro-flatulence and a cosmopolitan nightlife with a tinge of butt luck sheep dip and, for some durn reason, a large Goth scene.

In this proposal we will offer not only an exuberant nightlife, but an eventful day life as well, filled with historical sites, shopping, themed events, parties, Govnah’s balls, and goats. We are determined to hold with convergence tradition of unity amongst our scene but to also offer a theme that convergence has never seen before.

This will be Convergence's fourteenth year.
Let us define not only the event, but the reason behind the event.

Convergence is a gothic weekend event originally meant for Goths on the internet as means of getting together once a year to have a meet-and-greet and a cauldron of deviant fun. This net Goth organization is alt.gothic news groups, which is the North American Net.Goth collective. Traditionally, this event benefited the people from the alt.Gothic group, but has grown to larger numbers and is now affiliated with many other lists and forums. Convergence is 4 days and 4 nights of pure unadulterated Goth and miscreant culture that allows Goths of like minds spanning the United States, parts of Canada, and Europe to “converge” as one.

Proposal committees should not lose sight of the original intent of the event. Convergence is about you and us working together as a machine to continue our culture island in a sea of increasing normalcy and governmental/societal control. Dallas will bestow Convergence 14 with all its forces. The goal in Dallas will be as a host, by donating countless hours of preparation to ensure your experience is exciting and worthwhile. There shall be lively and “deadly” events, soirees - and hell - even some Goth barn stomps to keep your head humpin’. Expect the unexpected, take part in a hangin’ or three, see some steer lovin’, dirt convertin’ and more fartin’ n’ snortin’ than you can shake a ten gallon hat at – all chicken fried! (tofu fried if you're vegetarian)

It is important that past attendees and people who register with altgothic.com will be the deciders by voting to determine where the next Convergence will be held. You can find these guidelines of how to go about voting at the altgothic.com website, as well as in the alt.gothic and alt.gothic.convergence newsgroups.

The voting period will begin at 0:00 EST on May 5 2007 and will end at 24:00 EST on May 13 2007. Only registered voters will be allowed to vote, using security keys which will be emailed to them prior to the start of the actual vote.

Vote for the Dallas proposal when the time comes, 'cause we – well, garnish mah plate with horse shit - I done blowed mah foot clean off wit' my scatter gun.

Y’all come back now, ya heah?

THEME:
The proposal for the Dallas Convergence committee will hold to tradition, while making sure to put on a new twist on this convergence’s setting and attractions.
And the theme is...

A Nightmare in Texas
Our legendary "villains in black" setting includes: old west shoot outs, train robberies and hangins’, which are all associated with late nineteenth century Dallas, Texas. Pointy boots, tight black attire, vests and duster capes are a common facade amongst the Dallas restless. The remnants of this era encompass the dark western culture, fashion, JFK conspiracies and ghost towns.

I’ll meet you at high noon! Oh, wait! I don’t wake up till one! Better make that high 3pm!

"The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed. He ended up where he started, in the middle of the deserted main street. He had shot and killed thirty-nine men, fourteen women, and five children. He had shot and killed everyone in Tull."
-Stephen King
