SATURDAY, MAY 8

1:00p.m. Unofficial C10 Event Group Photo (all ages)

We will meet by the beautiful historic Buckingham Fountain (located just east of the Congress Hotel) for group photos. (Somebody bring a panoramic camera for this, please!) Buckingham Fountain is one of the nation's finest fountains and a public icon of Chicago. It is the centerpiece of Grant Park, the city's grand "front yard," and is set within a handsomely landscaped garden, one of Chicago's finest examples of the Beaux-Arts-style landscape design.

Afterwards you are encouraged to join us as we take over Navy Pier!

1:00p.m.-6:00p.m. C10 Vendors Bizarre Bazaar! in the Gold Room @Congress Hotel (all ages)

Shop 'til you drop from a large array of the finest dark merchants you'll ever find assembled under one roof! Garments, jewelry, music, housewares, books, accessories, and many more treasures await!

1:00p.m.-6:00p.m. Art Exhibit in the Alcove Room @Congress Hotel (18+)

The Convergence 10 Chicago Art Show will feature the work of talented amateurs and seasoned professionals alike. Located in the Congress Hotel's Alcove Room, C10 attendees may look forward to viewing the dark artwork of many internationally well-known artists, side-by-side with talented newcomers whose work may be debuting at C10.

The Alcove Room will be open to attendees from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (May 8 & 9).

For those in the buying mood, much of the artwork in the Alcove Room will be up for silent auction. Bid sheets attached to each piece will allow attendees to bid on pieces they wish to purchase, or pay a higher "Quick Sale" price to bypass the auction process. Either way, bidding closes at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday and purchasers may pay for and pick up their artwork starting at 3:30 on Sunday, and during the day on Monday.

There will also be a Print Shop at the C10 Committe Table in the Vendors Room. Many artists will have signed/numbered/limited-edition prints of their artwork/photography for sale there. See the Vendors Room section for info about Vendors Room hours, etc.

Purchases from the Art Show & Print Shop will be cash only.

3:00p.m. Unofficial C10 Event Clothing Swap in the Al Capone Suite #400 @Congress Hotel, (all ages)

It's Convergence clothing swap time again! Can't be arsed to list things on Ebay? You know you'll never get what it's worth at a garage sale? Then come join the Convergence 10 clothing swap!

-How does the swap work?
Everyone will bring his/her clothing into the meeting place and put it in front of him/her on a table. Then everyone is let loose to look at the clothing & haggle with each other. Trades are established between two people or even more to get the piece of clothing desired.

-Who can attend the swap?
Everyone. There tends to be far more females than males at the swap, but males are always welcome. It's an all ages, all inclusive swap.

-When and where is it happening?
3:00pm on Saturday, May 8th in the staff suite of the official C10 hotel. The suite number is 400 (it's the Al Capone Suite!) If you aren't on time, you'll regret it. Swapping starts right away and the best stuff always goes first.

-What do you bring?
Well, clothes. Clothing should be clean and wearable. As it went well last year, once again we're adding a little twist. Along with clothing, swappers can also bring 3 "other" items to swap. This can be whatever the heck you want. It could be picture frames, jewelry, wallets, whatever you want.

-What happens to the leftovers?
It's up to you. You can bring them home, or leave them. If you leave them they will be donated to a local shelter.

-How do you get in on it?
Email swap organizer Daednu as soon as possible with a rough idea of what you'll be bringing (sizes and number of items). This helps for head count and space count. Then you'll be put on the swappers list and you're in. Here is her email address: daednu@nventure.com

2:00p.m. Unofficial C10 Event Take over Navy Pier! (all ages)

We will meet after the Group Photo by the Ferris Wheel on Navy Pier. Located on Lake Michigan, just East of Chicago's Downtown, Navy Pier has been a Chicago landmark since it first opened in 1916, as both a shipping and recreational facility. Unofficial C10 Committee suggestions for fun things to do in Chicago on a Sunday:

Scary Lady Sarah suggests:
Take a vacation in an hour! Have an hour in a floatation tank (aka sensory deprivation tank) and/or an hour of massage therapy at SpaceTime Tanks, 2526 N. Lincoln Ave. Call 773-472-2700 to make an appointment and for more info, see their website: http://www.spacetimetanks.com
(It's perfect hangover cure & revitaliser, too!)

Walk amongst the hundreds of fluttering butterflies at the live exhibit at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum! It's awesome! On Sundays they are open from 10 - 5. Admission is $7; $5. for students (up to age 22)with i.d. 2430 North Cannon Drive (Northwest corner of Fullerton Pkwy and Cannon Dr. in Lincoln Park)

A short walk from the Nature Museum is the awesome Lincoln Park Conservatory. 2400 N. Stockton Dr. at Fullertron Ave. (right next to the Lincoln Park Zoo.) Over a century old, beautiful, open 9 - 5 even on Sundays and always free to get in! One of the best places in the city to breathe deeply. Truly a haven. Get lost in a jungle, desert, and fields of spring flowers.

Have a kick-ass smoothie at Chicago Diner. Located in the middle of great alternative shopping, 3411 N. Halsted. Open on Sundays from 10 - 10. Try the "Mocha Monkey": bananas, chocolate soy (or dairy) milk, and lots of espresso! Mmm...

Get to the area of Metro early enough before the evening events begin to stop across the street at Sweetie's Ice Cream Shop, (3731 N. Clark St.) for an old Chicago favourite: a Green River soda! The most unnaturally coloured green beverage you can imagine but really refreshing. They also have great frozen desserts (ice cream and a few vegan, too!) Open until 10p.m. on Sundays.

Carrie suggests:
Shop, dine and wonder Chicago's Chinatown! Located between Canal Street and Lake Shore Drive from the Stevenson Expressway north to the Santa Fe railroad yards. This unique far eastern charm offers dozens of Chinese and Cantonese restaurants, bakeries, bookstores, and gift shops! Let me just add CHEAP shopping!!

My favorite Sunday pastime is always shopping! Visit our friendly freak market known as Clark And Belmont. Basically you just go to that corner and walk a 2 block radius in any direction. Here are stores like The Alley, Tabou Tabou(both are part of the Alternative Shopping Complex), Medusa's Circle, Pink Frog, Hollywood Mirror, Ragstock and a ton more. Don't forget to hop on over to Boystown on Halsted while you are there and to hit stores such as 99th Floor, Beatnix's, Flashy Trash and a plethora of sex shops!

Visit the Sky Deck at the Sears Tower.
http://www.sears-tower.com
The sears tower is the tallest building in north America! 35+ miles of unparalleled views of Chicago. It's rumored that on a clear day you can see Wisconsin! OooOooo.

Untouchable Tours http://www.gangstertour.com
Historically accurate accounts of the exploits of Capone, Moran, Dillinger and the rest a da boys! A live action tour filled with a 2 hour tour of Chicago's hoodlum history!

Pick up lunch and have a lovely picnic at one of Chicago's many beaches! I recommend Belmont Harbor (known as Belmont Rocks to many)for an afternoon of Chilling out on the lake front. They have cleaned up Lake Michigan over the past few years and it really is breathtaking!

DavidB suggests:
Brunch at The Holiday Club on the corner of Irving Park/Sheridan(awesome banana bread french toast!!)

Take a walk around Graceland Cemetery on the Corner of Clark St. and Irving Park (open until 4:30pm)

Grab some coffee at Uncommon Ground Coffeehouse and Cafe 1214 W. Grace St (Vegetarian menu)

IF the weather is nice, head over and visit the creatures at the Lincoln Park Zoo (Chicago's FREE zoo!)

IF the weather is not so nice, catch a movie at The Music Box Theatre (link to )

JameyB suggests:
Window shop on Michigan Ave (there is a Sanrio store!!)

Find Oneil's Pub on Ontario for lunch and a beer

Visit the International Museum of Surgical Science 1524 N. Lake Shore Drive open til 4pm

Have some ice cream at Ghirardelli Chocolate Shop & Soda Fountain 830 N. Michigan Ave.

See the sites from the top of the John Hancock Tower open til 11pm (link to )

Chad suggests:
Visit the latest exhibits (and the massive permanent collection) at the Chicago Art Institute, just a stone's throw (assuming you have a really strong throwing arm) from The Congress.

Stop by the Red Lion Pub for the BEST fish and chips in Chicago and a snakebite. Not only is the Red Lion haunted, it's one of the few truly authentic british-style pubs in the city, and it's directly across the street from Chicago's famed Biograph theater.

Visit Rosehill Cemetery, the largest cemetery in Chicago, with my cameras in tow to broaden my ever-expanding collection of spooky stock photos! It's a bit far from The Congress, but it's right around the corner from me - don't attempt it unless you want to take a cab, or have a car.
