Some of these will be available 24 hours; the hours of the rest will be based on the level of demand. Information & Guide Services We will have a team of volunteers providing information and general assistance for Convergence attendees. Their job is to answer questions, serve as local guides for people who wish to go shopping, and to solve unexpected problems (each will have a First Aid kit, for example). These folk will be found at all events and will be reachable at all times through a central number listed prominently in the C7 Itinerary/Guidebook. This service will be coordinated by Winter, who has served as a ranger at Burning Man, with assistance from Cossack and others with related experience.
Sewing Station One of the hotel rooms will be furnished with a sewing machine and safety pins for the benefit of Convergence attendees whose garments suffer excess entropy over the weekend. Carrin Welch, Megan Friddle, and Heather Babb will be operating this "Emergency Sewing Center" and providing refreshments. Others may bring their works-in-progress and share spontaneous "stich 'n' bitch" sewing sessions.
Postcard Station Another area will host a couple of postcard/letter-writing hours; free stationery, stamped postcards, gel pens, and someone to run them all to the post office. This area too will have complimentary refreshments. This service will be provided throughout the weekend by Carrie
Carolin and Carrin Welch. |
